Being a male, I felt a bit unsure about trying a workout that I perceived to be just for women. That viewpoint is probably the biggest misconception about Pilates besides the fact that people have heard Pilates is just too hard. I felt at ease from the moment I walked into the door. Having lower back pain for the past 20 years, I decided to try Pilates at the suggestion of my doctor. In just a few sessions, my back discomfort is noticeably gone and my flexibility is starting to improve. I recently started running again and can definitely see how Pilates will help with my core strength and flexibility—components of a successful running regimen. I definitely recommend any of the instructors at NW Core Balance.
I've been taking twice weekly classes at NW Core Balance for the past 7 months and couldn't recommend it more highly. I look forward to going to class because the instructors strike the right balance of challenge and support, provide lots of individual feedback, and make the workouts fun. The studio and equipment are high quality and the classes are filled with nice, supportive people who like to laugh.
I started at NW Core Balance because I had shoulder surgery and my rehab was not going well. I also had to give up yoga because of wrist issues. PT didn't do anything for my recovery. I met with Shelley and she was able to tailor a routine that helped to quickly loosen and reduce the pain in my shoulder. I love Pilates because it allows me to move in ways I haven't been able to for awhile. I'm stronger and more flexible and it feels great.
I came to NW Core Balance last March because a friend of mind who was attending classes. She was so insistent on me observing one of her sessions. BEST thing I ever did for myself. I am stronger than ever and I have never felt more confident. Shelly and her instructors are compassionate, knowledgeable, experts on making your body feel the strongest it can be...also it's really fun. I feel blessed to have found a place like NW Core Balance.
